Cathay Pacific flight update
20 Aug 2001
Cathay Pacific Airways today announced that it has cancelled a total of six flights due to the higher than normal level of reported sickness amongst its pilots. The cancelled flights are as follows:
|CX901/900||Hong Kong - Manila - Hong Kong|
|CX715/710||Hong Kong - Singapore - Hong Kong|
|CX888/889||Vancouver - New York - Vancouver|
By 5:00pm today, a total of 85% of the airline's flights had departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time.
Cathay Pacific's Director Corporate Development Tony Tyler said: "We thank all of those pilots who have filled in for their absent colleagues. We also thank many of our ground staff who have tried very hard to keep the flights departing on schedule."
Cathay Pacific apologises to all passengers who have been affected by these cancellations. The airline has made every effort to transfer the affected passengers to alternative Cathay Pacific flights or flights with other airlines.
