12 Nov 2001
Cathay Pacific Airways offered to the Mainland its warmest congratulations on its accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The airline recognises that this is excellent news for both China and the global business community. Cathay Pacific hopes to play an important part in the success of the new membership through the extensive route network it offers from Hong Kong to the benefit of business executives and cargo travelling both to and from China.
Cathay Pacific's Director and Chief Operating Officer Philip Chen said: "The announcement of China's WTO entry will also strengthen Hong Kong's position as a world business, tourism and logistics centre. As Hong Kong's airline Cathay Pacific is committed to maintaining Hong Kong as Asia's leading aviation hub and we will further work on initiatives to enhance this status."
