Paradise City, South Korea's new entertainment hub

Paradise City  is a massive entertainment facility in Incheon, not far from South Korea’s capital, Seoul. The 33-hectare resort opened in 2017, housing the country’s largest casino, a convention centre and a hotel. The complex also includes the four-storey Chroma, currently the largest nightclub in Northeast Asia.

Paradise City was developed as the region’s first mover in the luxury casino market, with an aim of rivalling the likes of Las Vegas and Macao. Last year, its developers – South Korea’s Paradise Group  and Japan’s Sega Sammy  – opened a host of art and entertainment venues, further raising its prestige. Paradise City now has a collection of 2,700 art pieces, including works from big names such as Damien Hirst and Yayoi Kusama. The property also caters to fans of hallyu, or South Korean pop culture, with a new studio for shooting TV dramas and a string of K-beauty stores.

Strategically built in Incheon, Paradise City is minutes from Seoul’s international airport, making for an easy trip for tourists – it especially targets those from Japan and China. The casino is only meant for overseas visitors; gambling is illegal for South Korean citizens, both at home and abroad. Facilities separate from the casino complex, including the Cimer Spa, a vast Korean-style sauna, are aimed at domestic tourists.
