New Ordinance for passengers travelling with large amounts of currency into/out of Hong Kong

Passengers are advised that, effective 16 July 2018, the new Cross-boundary Movement of Physical Currency and Bearer Negotiable Instruments Ordinance will come into operation in Hong Kong.
Any person arriving in Hong Kong via a control point and in possession of currency or bearer negotiable instruments (CBNls), such as traveller's cheques, with a total value of more than HKD120,000 is required to make a written declaration to a Customs officer in the Red Channel. Other persons arriving in Hong Kong or persons about to leave Hong Kong are required to make a disclosure upon the request of a Customs officer.
