Before you travel
Please get in touch with your local reservations office at least 48 hours before your flight to confirm your pet’s place on board. You will be asked to provide the following details:
- Total weight of the pet and its container
- Dimensions, material and make of the container
- Valid health and vaccination certificates, entry permits and other documents required by the country of entry or transit (learn more about these requirements at the Customs, Currency & Airport information section of the IATA Travel Centre website.
Before departure, please ensure your pet is healthy and well-hydrated. If the total journey time exceeds 12 hours, you must provide water for your pet and ensure their water container is not overfilled.
Your pet’s travel container
We want your pet to feel at home, so bring a comfortable container for them to travel in.
- Your container needs to be clean, lockable, escape-proof, and leak-proof, with sufficient holes for breathing.
- Your pet needs to be able to stand, turn around and lie down naturally.
If your container doesn’t meet the requirements, you may not be able to bring your pet on board. Check if your pet’s container meet the requirements.

Please note that food and water containers must be provided.
Food container guideline for all pets:
- All food containers must be fixed insides or attached to the travel container.
Water container guidelines for all pets:
- All pets must be provided with a non-spill water container with sufficient supply inside, affixed within the travel container, with outside access for filling.
- The water container must be open on the top and securely affixed to the bottom of the travel container, allowing the pet unrestricted access.
- Water bottles attached but without a water container inside the travel container will not be accepted.
Dog container guidelines
We accept dog containers made of solid fibreglass, rigid plastic or metal with strong welded metal mesh.
Wood cannot be used for dog containers.
Containers made entirely of welded mesh or wire mesh are not suitable for air transport.
Containers must be easy for staff to handle and provide the handlers protection from being harmed by the animals.
Cat container guidelines
We accept cat containers made of wood, solid fibreglass, rigid plastic or metal with strong welded metal mesh.

Please note: we will not accept a pet and its container that is over 32 kg (70 lbs) in combined weight or 203 cm (80 in) in total dimension without prior approval.
