What to know before you fly
While the risk of COVID-19 transmission on board remains very low, we have implemented measures to safeguard the wellbeing of our passengers and crew.
If you need to postpone your travel, find out more about our free ticket change options in our COVID-19 information centre.
For passengers arriving into Hong Kong
The Hong Kong SAR Government has introduced new and comprehensive entry requirements for passengers who have visited certain countries and are ending their journey in Hong Kong. Visit Restrictions for passengers travelling to Hong Kong to learn more and use Fly Ready to upload and verify all your required documentation in advance and ensure you’re all set to fly.
For all passengers
If you are feeling unwell
We’re unable to accept anyone presenting symptoms consistent with COVID-19 for travel and therefore ask that you postpone travel if:
- you are feeling unwell with respiratory symptoms, such as a fever, cough, sore throat or muscle aches;
- you have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to travel; or
- you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the 14 days prior to travel.
Please note: passengers that have been diagnosed with COVID-19 are recommended to carry documentation confirming they have recovered and are no longer contagious in case this is requested by authorities on departure, arrival or during any transit stops.
Compulsory health declarations
A health declaration form must be completed and submitted prior to departure for some destinations. Please visit Health Declaration Forms to learn more.
Face coverings requirement
To protect the wellbeing of all passengers and our crew on board, if you are two years of age or older, you must wear a surgical face covering when travelling with us. This includes:
- during boarding;
- in the aircraft cabin;
- during disembarkation; and
- when directed by our airport team or cabin crew.
You may also be required, by law, to wear a surgical face covering in some airport terminals. This is a requirement at Hong Kong International Airport. For other airports, we recommend that passengers check the relevant government websites.
For passengers using Cathay Pacific lounges located in countries where it is not a government requirement to wear a face covering, we ask passengers to continue wearing one when moving around the lounge as a courtesy to fellow guests.
Subject to any applicable laws, we’re unable to accept anyone not wearing a surgical face covering for travel.
Inflight
You must keep your surgical face covering on at all times and only remove it during the short periods that you are eating or drinking.
Please also remember to remove your surgical face covering if you are required to use the oxygen masks for any reason.
At the airport
We also strongly recommend that surgical face coverings are used in high-traffic areas such as check-in, security lines and baggage collection areas. Please also note that many governments have now made wearing a face covering compulsory in public places, including airport terminals.
Bring your own
We kindly ask that you bring your own appropriate surgical face covering to wear throughout your journey. It should fit snugly against your face and cover the mouth and nose without gaps.
Prohibited items
As they may not be fully effective, masks with exhalation valves or vents are prohibited when travelling on all Cathay Pacific aircraft, at Hong Kong International Airport and in all Hong Kong designated quarantine hotels.
Passengers are prohibited from wearing personal air purifying shields on board, as this product contains a rechargeable lithium battery and risks blocking access to oxygen masks (if required).
A clean travel environment
Watch how we thoroughly clean our cabins to protect you in the air.
