Important information for Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon passengers travelling between 6 February and 28 March 2020

Overview

In view of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and the subsequent drop in market demand, we have reduced around 90% of Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon flights into Mainland China. There will also be significant short-term reductions – approximately 40% of our capacity – across our network over the next two months.

The destinations that are subject to temporary suspension until 28 March 2020 are:

  • China - Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan regions: Kaohsiung, Taichung and all Mainland China cities with the exception of Beijing, Shanghai Pudong, Chengdu and Xiamen
  • The Americas: New York (Newark), Washington D.C.
  • Asia: Jeju, Busan, Clark, Davao, Niigata, Okinawa, Male
  • Australasia: Adelaide
  • Europe: Rome, Milan, London (Gatwick)
  • Middle East: Tel Aviv

Start dates for suspensions and frequency reductions are variable.

Your flight booking

If your upcoming journey is affected by these suspensions or frequency reductions, you’ll receive an email from us with information on alternative flight arrangements.

Please be aware that our reservation offices are extremely busy at the moment, so kindly accept our apologies if wait times are longer than usual.

  • If you’ve booked directly with us, you can make a rebooking through Manage Booking, or discuss alternative arrangements with your local reservation office. If your booking includes pre-arranged services, such as wheelchair assistance, your local reservation office will be able to assist.
  • If you’re holding a partially-used ticket to or from destinations that are temporarily suspended, you can refund any part of your journey that has not been flown. Those who have booked directly with us can request a refund through Manage Booking. Otherwise, please contact your travel agent.
  • If you’ve purchased your ticket through a travel agent, please contact them for more information, and to discuss alternative arrangements.

Alternative arrangements for passengers

For passengers travelling to/ from Alternate arrangements

Mainland China

  1. Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen and Chengdu:

    Alternate flight arrangements will be offered to passengers whose journeys have been affected.

  2. All destinations, except Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen and Chengdu:

    You can refund any part of your journey that has not been flown.

    If you booked directly with us, you can request a refund through Manage Booking. Otherwise, please contact your travel agent. 

Southwest Pacific

  1. All destinations:

    Alternate flight arrangements will be offered to passengers whose journeys have been affected.

The Americas

  1. All destinations, except flights between Vancouver and New York JFK:

    Alternate flight arrangements will be offered to passengers whose journeys have been affected.

  2. Flights between Vancouver and New York JFK:

    You can refund any part of your journey that has not been flown.

Europe

  1. All destinations:

    Alternate flight arrangements will be offered to passengers whose journeys have been affected.

Southeast Asia

  1.  All destinations:

    Alternate flight arrangements will be offered to passengers whose journeys have been affected.

  2. Davao and Clark:

    You can refund any part of your journey that has not been flown.

Northeast Asia

You can refund any part of your journey that has not been flown for the following origin and destination pairs.

If you are travelling from 13 February to 28 March between:

  • Hong Kong and Taichung
  • Hong Kong and Kaohsiung
  • Hong Kong and Jeju
  • Taipei and Nagoya
  • Taipei and Seoul

If you are travelling from 28 February to 28 March between:

  • Hong Kong and Okinawa
  • Hong Kong and Busan

If you are travelling from 5 March to 28 March between:

  • Hong Kong and Niigata

For all destinations other than those listed above, alternate flight arrangements will be offered to passengers whose journeys have been affected.
