Flights departing from Hong Kong International Airport

Everything you need to know before boarding your flight at HKIA, from check-in to the cabin.

  • You meet the latest entry requirements for your destination.
  • You have face masks to wear during your journey. Please note that masks with exhalation valves or vents are not permitted.
  • You have completed the necessary health and travel history forms for your final destination.
  • You have checked public transport times. The Airport Express and some bus companies are operating reduced schedules.

Expect the airport check-in to take a little longer than usual. Arrive 2-3 hours before your flight.

  • You can check in on prior to your flight departure. For most destinations, you will be able to obtain your mobile boarding pass. For destinations where COVID-19 related document checks are needed, you will still need to collect your boarding pass from a check-in counter.
  • Many destinations are now eligible for our self service facilities at HKIA. Speed through check-in by simply printing your baggage tags at a self service kiosk and then proceed to self bag drop.
  • You can also choose to enroll in the HK Airport Authority’s Flight Token program. By having your facial imagine captured at the self service bag drop, you can then speed through the security checkpoint and boarding gates simply by looking into the camera at each location. If you’re travelling on a Hong Kong SAR passport, you can also use your biometrics to clear immigration formalities.
  • To be eligible to fly, you will need to present any forms, vaccination records, QR codes or downloaded apps required by your final destination.

A limited number of airport facilities remain open, so plan ahead.

Travel tips

How to prepare for your departure from Hong Kong

Arrive early

Arrive 2-3 hours ahead of your flight. Check-in for all Cathay Pacific flights is in Zones A, B and C. We strongly suggest all passengers use the self service kiosks and bag drop in Zone C for a fast and hasslefree check-in experience.

Check your forms

Have the valid travel documents and health declaration forms required to enter your final destination.

Rest assured

The airport is open 24/7, so if you miss your flight or are delayed, you will be able to stay at the airport until other arrangements are made.

Bring snacks

A limited number of restaurants and shops at HKIA are open, though operating hours may be shortened. Bring snacks and a refillable water bottle.

Bring extra face masks

All travellers are required to wear face masks at the airport and in the cabin. Bring extras so you have a fresh one after your flight.
