Before you travel

Please get in touch with your local reservations office at least 48 hours before your flight to confirm your pet’s place on board. You will be asked to provide the following details:

  • Total weight of the pet and its container

  • Dimensions, material and make of the container

  • Valid health and vaccination certificates, entry permits and other documents required by the country of entry or transit (learn more about these requirements at the Customs, Currency & Airport information section of the IATA Travel Centre website.

Before departure, please ensure your pet is healthy and well-hydrated. If the total journey time exceeds 12 hours, you must provide water for your pet and ensure their water container is not overfilled.

Your pet’s travel container

We want your pet to feel at home, so bring a comfortable container for them to travel in. Your container needs to be clean, lockable, escape-proof, and leak-proof, with sufficient holes for breathing. Your pet needs to be able to stand, turn around and lie down naturally. If the container doesn’t meet our requirements, you may not be able to bring your pet on board.

Please note that food and water containers must be provided, either fixed inside the travel container or attached to the outside of the travel container.

Visit IATA Traveler’s Pet Corner for more information on suitable container dimensions.
