The Hong Kong SAR Government has introduced strict entry requirements for passengers who are ending their journey in Hong Kong.

A negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test

A negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test

(a) A negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) based nucleic acid test report in English or Chinese indicating:

  • Your name that matches your travel document
  • The sample was taken within 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of your direct flight to Hong Kong
  • The term ‘negative’ stated in the PCR-based nucleic acid test result is interchangeable with the following terms: undetected/ not detected/ undetectable

*Important* The sample must be taken within 48 hours before the scheduled time of departure and include below terms for specimen collection to be accepted by the Hong Kong Government:

  1. Collection Date / Date of Collection
  2. Collected on / Collected / Date Collected
  3. Test Date / Date of test
  4. Sampling Date / Date of Sampling
  5. Sample Collection / Sample Collected
  6. Sample Taken / Specimen Taken
  7. Swab Date / Swab on
  8. Examination Date / Date of Examination

(b) For passengers who were infected with COVID-19 in the past 14-90 days prior to your direct flight to Hong Kong and recovered, you can present a recovery certificate (in English or Chinese) to state the date of infection and recovered status. In such, you can alternatively present a negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) test report in English or Chinese indicating:

  • Your name that matches your travel document
  • The sample was taken within 24 hours before the scheduled departure time of your direct flight to Hong Kong

This requirement does not apply to travellers under the age of 3.

A confirmation for 7 nights or 14 nights starting on the day of arrival, in designated quarantine hotels. 

Kindly note that all names of the occupants need to be printed on the hotel booking confirmation.

Vaccination record requirements

Vaccination record requirements

As documentary proof, passengers must present a recognised vaccination record in hardcopy OR softcopy written in English or Chinese that is issued by Hong Kong, or an authority or recognised institution of a place on the “List of Places of Issuance of Recognised Vaccination Records". For the list of recognised COVID-19 vaccines, please visit here.

The name on your vaccination record MUST be exactly as it appears on your passport and valid travel documents. 

Kindly ensure the vaccination record to include the name of the COVID-19 vaccine, number of received dose(s) and the date(s) on the dose(s) administered.

To be considered as “fully vaccinated”, kindly ensure that it must have been at least 14 days since you were given your final dose.
