    The Manor Club experience

Stepping into the Manor Club on the 40th floor of the hotel is more akin to stepping into an art gallery. I’m greeted by refined furnishings and a unique collection of art, and with natural light flooding in through floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto the outdoor terrace, it’d be hard for any guest not to find this space utterly beautiful.

Checking in ahead of time, a friendly concierge staff member guides me to a window seat in the dining area. I’m treated to a decadent afternoon tea of free-flow light bites (the warm scones are heavenly) and beverages. When the quality of the food is this good, I’m excited to return for breakfast the following morning, where freshly baked pastries, cold cuts, dim sum, fruits and yoghurt are served, alongside a menu of cooked-to-order dishes like eggs Benedict and pancakes.

The evenings don’t disappoint either. As the sun sets, I savour delicious canapés and head to the terrace where I enjoy unobstructed views of the Victoria Harbour over a glass of wine and watch the iconic Symphony of Lights show that is staged every evening at 8pm.

    The room

Beginning with a welcome fruit platter and the acclaimed taro chiffon cake from the hotel’s celebrated boutique, Butterfly Patisserie, the room sets the scene for a delightful stay. The 570-square-foot Club Harbour View Room is tastefully decorated with plush furnishings and Hong Kong-inspired paintings. What elevates the experience are the expansive windows which frame the sweeping harbour views and provide countless Instagram moments.

The splendour continues into the opulent marble bathroom, which features black-and-white tiled floors and several grand mirrors. I’m impressed by how spacious this area is: a large, free-standing bathtub, two sinks and two showers, all carefully positioned. Thoughtful amenities – including a Nespresso coffee machine, premium teas and a 55-inch HDTV with Chromecast capabilities – further enhance the luxurious setting.

Asaya Spa by Guerlain at Rosewood Hong Kong is an elegant space for guests to enjoy a selection of spa and wellness experiences.l

Moments of pure bliss at Asaya

Although it’s hard to leave the room, I’m excited to experience the 90-minute Silky Glow Facial at Asaya Spa by Guerlain – a 40,000-square-feet wellness retreat located on the 6th floor. Featuring luxurious products by French beauty house Guerlain and inspired by Chinese calligraphy, this treatment is exclusively offered here in Hong Kong; you won’t find it at any of the other Rosewood outposts.

I’m invited to relax in the bathhouse, enjoying the sauna and jacuzzi before a therapist escorts me to the treatment room. Lying on a heated bed, I’m instantly soothed by the calming sounds of a singing bowl. My therapist then cleanses my face before performing an extensive facial massage using hot and cold jade stones to stimulate circulation. Silk-infused products are applied liberally over my face, lulling me to sleep while the active ingredients work their magic. With the application of a lip balm and a gentle hand massage, I wake up to a visibly dewy, plumper complexion.

Post facial, I’m invited to the lounge to enjoy a selection of teas, dried fruits and nuts.

The Italian restaurant BluHouse at Rosewood Hong Kong is loved for its elegant setting and authentic Italian fare.

A stellar Italian feast at BluHouse

Downstairs, an Italian feast awaits at BluHouse, an elegant all-day dining concept that stands out among the hotel’s stellar lineup of restaurants for its convivial ambience and authentic Italian fare.

Freshly baked sourdough forms the prelude to my meal – where bread lovers (like me) – will be pleased to know that baskets of these beautiful loaves can be refilled any number of times. A waiter arrives and recommends several items, including starters polpo e olive – a simple but delicious octopus salad – and fresh burrata served with extra virgin olive oil, with the optional add-on of pesto and datterino tomatoes.

For mains, my favourite dish is the Roman style margherita pizza, which has a perfect base of light, fluffy focaccia and comes loaded with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. I also enjoy the BluPlate pasta – a house speciality that’s made with tender-cooked lobster meat and pillowy gnocchi. Another winner is the pollo allo spiedo – free-range chicken slow-cooked over an open flame to golden perfection and served with a side of roasted potatoes and vegetables. The skin is delicately crisp, and the meat is succulent.

The meal ends with a decadent selection of desserts, displayed on a marble-clad counter for guests to select what they like before ordering. The pistachio cannoli – a golden crispy roll stuffed with rich pistachio cream – is Sicilian perfection in every bite. It’s so devine that I'll certainly come back for more.

After dinner, two beautiful watering holes – Darkside and XX – await my patronage upstairs. Oh, and did I mention that there’s a well-equipped gym on site available for hotel guests 24 hours a day? It’s definitely worth checking out for an evening workout, and for snapping shots against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour to show off your gains on your ‘gram.
