Cancel your ticket and request a refund
Free cancellation eligibility
We’re waiving cancellation fees for bookings impacted by COVID-19. Your ticket is eligible if it meets the conditions below.
Destination/origin | Ticket issuing date | Planned travel period | Alternative option |
---|---|---|---|
All destinations/origins | On/before 23 March 2020 | 1 June 2020 to 31 March 2021 | You can easily change your ticket or exchange it for Cathay Credits. |
Our free cancellation policy cannot be applied to tickets that have already been fully or partially refunded.
If you’ve already changed or reissued your ticket in the past, and would now like to cancel your ticket without charge, we’ll evaluate whether your ticket is eligible for free cancellation based on the ticket’s first issuance date, ticket conditions at time of cancellation, and its revised travel period.
How long will the refund process take?
Your refund request for the residual amount after the deduction of necessary cancellation charges, will be processed in 20 calendar days if the original payment was made by Cash and Bank Transfer or 7 working days if it was made by other forms of payment, including credit cards and PayPal. (counted from the day of receipt of the refund request).
Please note that the time required for the actual refund to reach your account will depend on individual banks and payment service providers.
The above guidelines do not apply to special refunds involving service on other airlines.
*We have received a large increase in refund requests as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. While we are doing everything we can to process your refund quickly, this process may take longer than usual. We apologise for any delays and thank you for your patience during this busy period.
How to cancel your booking and secure a refund
If you booked through Cathay Pacific – on our website, mobile app or through our contact centre – the fastest way to organise a refund is to log into Manage Booking. Vantage Pass, Student Fares and Senior Fares ticket holders can organise a refund through our contact centre.
If you purchased your ticket through a travel agent – please contact them directly to organise your cancellation. We are unable to process refunds for these bookings.
If you booked a redemption ticket, please contact Asia Miles through their online form, Link opens in a new window operated by external parties and may not conform to the same accessibility policies as Cathay Pacific to cancel your booking and organise a refund.
If your flight is no longer operating, we will refund the unused value of your ticket.
