Special meals
All meals served on our flights may not meet your religious / medical / dietary requirements. If you have any special needs in regards to the above, please make your request via Manage Booking or by contacting your local reservations office. Orders for special meals should be made at least 24 hours before your scheduled flight.
Vegetarian Hindu / Indian Vegetarian Meal | Spicy vegetarian combinations, with limited use of dairy products. No meat, fish, fowl and products with lard or gelatine, eggs. |

Baby Meal | Meal usually contains pureed food that is easily digestible, mildly seasoned and tender. |
Bland Meal | Food / beverages that are easily digestible, mildly seasoned and tender. Any food / beverages that may cause gastric discomfort are avoided. |
Child Meal | Easily identifiable food. Prohibited foods such as fish and meat bones, highly seasoned food or any food that may cause choking. |
Diabetic Meal | Nutritionally balanced meal containing complex carbohydrates, high fibre, proteins, low fat ingredients and a low sugar content. |
Fruit Platter Meal | Fruit (consists purely of fruit components such as fresh fruits, fruit compote, fruit desserts, etc. depending on availability and seasonality). |
Gluten Intolerant Meal | This meal excludes wheat, buckwheat or wheat flour, rye, oats, barley, bread or any flour-based products. Meals are not guaranteed free of gluten. |
Hindu Meal | Non-vegetarian, Indian-style meal prepared according to Hindu customs that contains no beef, veal or pork, but with lamb, domestic fowl, other meats, fish and milk products. |
Kosher Meal | Prepared according to Jewish dietary law and purchased from reputable manufacturers. |
Low Calorie Meal | With no added fats and sugar, the meal is served with lean meats and low fat dairy products. This meal avoids fried food, gravy, sauces, rich desserts, added fats, oils and sugar. |
Low Fat / Low Cholesterol Meal | The meal is served with lean meats, low fat dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables and high fibre wholegrain bread, cereals, accompanied with unsweetened fruit juices. |
Low Salt Meal | Meals are low in sodium or salt and with no added salt. |
Moslem Meal* | Containing no pork and pig by-products, gelatine, non-halal fish from species without scales or fins, alcohol and flavouring extracts with alcohol. |
Low Lactose Meal | Dairy products and products containing dairy ingredients are prohibited. This meal is not suitable for passengers with milk allergy. |
Vegetarian Raw Meal | Combination of raw fruits and vegetables along with pure fresh fruit / vegetable juices. |
Vegetarian Vegan Meal | Strict vegetarian food with no animal products or animal by-products, no eggs and no dairy products. |
Vegetarian Jain Meal / Strict Indian Vegetarian | Vegetarian food prepared in Indian style, based on Jain customs. No meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, root or bulbous vegetables, dairy products and mushrooms. |
Vegetarian Lacto-Ovo Meal | Vegetarian food that may contain dairy products, eggs and vegetarian-type of cheese (without rennet). |
Vegetarian Oriental Meal | Vegetarian food prepared in East Asian style, along with fruits and vegetables. No meat, poultry, fish, seafood, eggs, dairy products, roots or bulbous vegetables including ginger, garlic, onion, spring onions, etc. |
Non-Beef Meal** | Prepared without beef, veal or beef/veal related products of any kind. |
Liquid Diet Meal | Only liquid or slightly thickened soups, fruit juices, pureed vegetables, custards, jelly, etc. |
* All meals on flights to and from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia and Middle East are prepared according to the Halal method.
** Non-beef meal is served as regular meal in Economy Class on flights between Hong Kong and Taipei/Kaohsiung (and vice versa).
We regret we are unable to offer any variations on the special meals listing above and we additionally cannot provide personal preference items such as seafood, lobster or steak.
Note: Please be advised that our crew will not be able to re-heat or chill any personal food items brought on board for consumption, due to hygiene reasons. Any food requiring refrigeration should be packed in either a cool bag or vacuum flask. Passengers may bring their own dry ice in quantities of less than 2.5kg (5.5 lbs) which is suitably packed to allow CO2 gases to evaporate freely. Passengers must identify to airport staff that they are bringing dry ice on board at the time of check-in. If warming of food items are required inflight, please ask our cabin crew for a container with hot water.
