Stay entertained in quarantine
Beat the boredom: from seeking out new hobbies to pampering sessions, here are some tips to inject a little bit of fun into your quarantine stay.
This is a great opportunity to pick up a new pastime, whether it be cryptic crosswords or yoga. If you’re curious about coding, try out a one-hour lesson or commit to a programming boot camp with Asia Miles partner Preface Coding.
There’s a whole range of DIY kits available on the Asia Miles online lifestyle shop for making dried flower wreaths, leather card holders, soap and other items. Get them sent to your room and start creating.
Other things you can do from the confines of your room: sketch the view out of your window; slow down with some adult colouring books; embark on an epic LEGO set; or undertake a mammoth jigsaw puzzle.
Ensuring you don’t get lonely will be one of the challenges of quarantine. Why not give your catchups some structure for added fun?
Join a video hangout for evening drinks, host a quiz, start a book club to discuss the novels you’re reading in quarantine, or get comfy and tune into the same movie with a ‘Netflix party’.
For something slower, write a letter – it’s not something we have much time for ordinarily, but quarantine is the ideal chance to revive it.
Of course, you’ll be spending plenty of time on your devices. You know the big streaming sites like Netflix (redeem through Asia Miles) and Amazon Prime, but this is the perfect time to check out something different like Mubi, an arthouse specialist, or CuriosityStream, which specialises in documentaries.
You can also purchase an Apple iTunes gift card to download movies and shows, as well as apps, games, music and more.
Podcasts are a great way to give you some time away from the screen. From news to talk shows, comedy to true crime, there’s a whole world for you to explore.
This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some ‘you’ time. If your hotel room has a bath tub, light some candles, put on relaxing tunes and luxuriate with a long soak.
You could even treat yourself to a full spa session. Get cosy in your hotel bathrobe and indulge in facials, body scrubs, manicures and pedicures – you’ll emerge from quarantine looking and feeling better than ever.
Sometimes restrictions are the very things we need to release our creativity. So let yourself go and do something different – it’s okay, no one’s watching.
Set up an elaborate, arty selfie in your hotel room. Build yourself an obstacle course and beat your personal best. Practice food styling with your meals every night. Set up an impromptu basketball competition with paper balls and empty glasses.
The possibilities are endless.
With over 800 partners worldwide, Asia Miles will turn your everyday spending into exciting awards and experiences.
