Cathay Pacific alerts passengers to service disruptions to and from Bali and New York

Cathay Pacific Airways is alerting passengers to disruptions to the airline’s services to and from two destinations: Denpasar in Bali and New York in the United States.

Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali has been affected by an ash cloud emitted by the erupting Tengger Caldera volcano in Java, Indonesia.

Today’s Cathay Pacific flight CX785 to Denpasar (DPS) was en route from Hong Kong to Bali but was forced to return due to the ash cloud and was scheduled to land at Hong Kong International Airport at 15.30 this afternoon. The flight will be rescheduled to depart on Friday morning (28 January) at 12.00 Hong Kong time.

Today’s CX784 service from Denpasar to Hong Kong has also been delayed until tomorrow with an estimated departure time of 17.45 local time.

In New York, John F Kennedy International Airport has once again been affected by severe snow storms and is now officially closed.

The CX889 service from New York to Vancouver/Hong Kong (26 January) was ready to depart but had to return to the boarding gate due to the heavy snow. As a result, Cathay Pacific has cancelled that flight and the CX888 (26 January) Vancouver to New York service. Passengers will be protected onto other flights once operations can begin again.

Passengers are advised to check flight information at the airline’s website, www.cathaypacific.com, and to input their contact details in the Manage My Booking function at the website to ensure they get the latest flight information via SMS or email.

The airline will continue to monitor the situation in Denpasar and New York and will issue further updates should there be any changes to the flight schedule.
