What’s the deal?

With a tagline that boldly declares itself as “anything but standard”, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is a playful addition to the Thai capital’s esteemed roster of luxury hotels.

Situated inside the King Power Mahanakhon – Bangkok’s tallest skyscraper –the hotel’s design reflects its dynamic, bustling locale in the Silom business district. Once inside, you’re greeted by a series of beautiful spaces dreamed up by The Standard’s in-house creatives and Spanish designer Jaime Hayon.

From the verdant ground-floor reception area with locally made rattan light fixtures hanging from the ceiling to the modern, warm-hued lobby decked out like a cosy, Mad Men-era living room, every little detail is a feast for the eyes and celebrates Bangkok’s vibrancy and ever-growing sense of cool.

Why stay

Starting from 40sq m, the hotel’s 155 guestrooms all feature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. The tasteful, mid-century aesthetic of the lobby continues here, but the bold colours are substituted for a more neutral palette.

After checking in, enjoy a long soak in the bathtub or splash in the rain shower, then refuel with a meal at one of the hotel’s outstanding dining outlets. Can’t decide which one to dine in? The signature Three of a Kind lunch package takes you on a delicious journey through the hotel’s culinary highlights, starting with Mott 32’s award-winning Chinese cuisine, followed by sumptuous steakhouse classics at The Standard Grill, and ends with sweet treats at the Mexican-inspired Ojo, a sky-high restaurant and rooftop bar in Bangkok.

Need to sweat off that decadent feast? The hotel’s top-notch fitness centre, open 24/7, is a destination of its own. If you prefer a more relaxing workout, however, squeeze in a few laps in the outdoor pool before chasing with a cheeky cocktail from the adjacent bar.

Don’t miss

A visit to the Mahanakhon Skywalk, Thailand’s highest observation deck, on the 78th floor of the building – free to all hotel guests. Panoramic views of Bangkok from 314 metres above ground can be enjoyed with a drink from Sky Beach, the hotel’s al fresco rooftop bar.
