Foshan: Mamma Andersson

Swedish artist Mamma Andersson presents her first solo exhibition in Asia , showcasing nearly 30 evocative works that span from 2014 to 2025. Guangzhou: The World of the Playwright – Xin Dong Cheng Collection

 With a rare curatorial focus on theatricality in contemporary Chinese art, The World of the Playwright brings together more than 80 works from Xin Dong Cheng’s renowned collection at the Guangdong Museum of Art. This exhibition explores the intersection of performance, narrative and visual art, featuring artists who blur the boundaries between stage and canvas, including Wang Gongxin and Fu Zhongwang. Through installations, paintings and mixed media, the show reveals how dramaturgical thinking shapes contemporary expression.

Guangzhou: The Eternal Waves – Dance Drama 

As part of the 2025 Guangzhou Art Festival, the acclaimed Shanghai Song and Dance Troupe presents The Eternal Waves, a gripping dance drama inspired by the true story of revolutionary martyr Li Bai. Set in the shadowy alleys and shikumen architecture of 1930s Shanghai, the production blends espionage, romance and sacrifice into a visually stunning performance. With poetic choreography, suspenseful storytelling and a richly atmospheric stage design, the production reimagines the world of underground resistance through the language of dance to create a landmark of contemporary Chinese stagecraft.

Macao: Power Station

Grab your plaid and get ready to time-warp back to the early-00s with Taiwanese rock duo Power Station as they drench The Londoner Arena in their brand of alternative grunge, which recalls the likes of Pearl Jam and Audioslave. One of the region’s most coveted live rock acts, Yu Chiu-hsin and Yen Chih-lin have over nine studio albums and nearly 30 years in the business. Look forward to an immersive performance of their iconic hits – think big hair and bigger ballads.

Macao: The Chainsmokers

Few Stateside acts show Asia as much love as The Chainsmokers: DJs Alex Pall and Drew Taggart are back in the neighbourhood for another bombastic spectacle of earworm-riddled EDM. Whether it’s with huge hits, like 2014’s breakout #Selfie, or box-fresh tracks from their new EP, No Hard Feelings, the stratospheric pair will light up the Cotai Strip with a dazzling energy and lightshow that rivals that of the gambling hub itself. Get ready to bop with them at The Venetian this month .

Shenzhen: Qianhai Beach opens 

Beachgoers won’t have to go far from the city centre to access a brand-new artificial beach, complete with beach volleyball courts, lounge chairs, a jogging track and even floating platforms for yoga. Coffee shops, bars and a night market round off the beach’s list of facilities. 

 Shenzhen: Jingdong Mall 

Opened last month, Shenzhen’s first Jingdong Mall is easily accessible by subway and includes over 200 brands from around the world. The tech-focused shopping centre also features recreational spaces where you can experience VR games, go karting, cycling and more. Not to mention, you’ll find it hard to resist snapping pics of the mall’s mascot (a white puppy sporting an adorable smile), whom you’ll spot chilling around the complex. 

Zhuhai: Zhuhai Open 2025 – Speedcubing Competition

The world of colourful twisty puzzles (the most famous of which is the Rubik’s Cube) comes alive at the Zhuhai Open 2025 , where more than 200 speedcubers will gather to test their skills in a high-stakes, high-speed celebration of logic and dexterity. Held at the Zhuhai Hongsanyi Hotel, this World Cube Association-sanctioned event features a full slate of official events, from the classic 3x3x3 Cube to more complex challenges such as Megaminx and 4x4x4. The competition promises a weekend of thrilling solves, community spirit – and record-breaking potential.
