Three Lanes and Seven Alleys
Gulou District, a busy area, has a labyrinth of ancient lanes and alleys. This city street system comprises more than 200 old buildings whose original roof tiles and unusual bricks remain intact. Hire a rickshaw, enjoy a slow ride and imagine life in the old days.

Fuzhou acquired the name Three Mountains more than a century ago when the city's territory was expanded to include the mountains of Ping, Wu and Yu. The mountains, together with the Min River running through the city, have become Fuzhou's signature features. Take a leisurely stroll on the hills or along the river, and the tranquil scenery will recall a Chinese calligraphy painting.

Fuzhou is a major hub for Buddhism worship and events. Melt-in-your-mouth braised pork knuckle has perpetual crowds packing into this hole-in-the-wall. Despite its modest interior, this shop is definitely worth a visit.
