Cancel your ticket and request a refund
Free cancellation eligibility
We’re waiving cancellation fees for bookings impacted by COVID-19. Please refer to the table below to see if your ticket is eligible.
|Destination/origin||Ticket issuing date||Planned travel period||Alternative option
|All destinations/origins||On/before 23 March 2020||1 June 2020 to 31 March 2021||If you do not wish to cancel your flight, you can easily change your ticket or exchange it for Cathay Credits.|
We have received a large increase in refund requests as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are doing everything we can to process your refund quickly, this may take longer than usual. We apologise for any delays and thank you for your patience during this busy period.
If your flight is no longer operating, we will refund the unused value of your ticket.
Please note your refund will take 7 working days for credit card and PayPal transactions*, 20 calendar days for other forms of payment such as cash, bank transfer, Ideal, etc.
If you need to alter your plans, please change or cancel your ticket before your departure date to avoid incurring a no-show fee.
Our free cancellation policy cannot be applied to tickets that have already been fully or partially refunded.
If you’ve already changed or reissued your ticket in the past, and would now like to cancel your ticket without charge, we’ll evaluate whether your ticket is eligible for free cancellation based on the ticket’s first issuance date, ticket conditions at time of cancellation, and its revised travel period.
*Please also note that the time required for the actual refund to reach the cardholder’s account will depend on individual banks. The above guidelines do not apply to special refunds involving service on other airlines.
