Things to do
We've chosen the must-see highlights of this fantastic city.
We've chosen the must-see highlights of this fantastic city.
Do
Père-Lachaise Cemetery
Arguably the most famous cemetery in all of Europe, the Père-Lachaise cemetery is a repository of the history of France, with monuments to famous names alongside the unnamed tablets. Search the 48 hectares to find the final resting places of Frederic Chopin, Proust, Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf and Oscar Wilde.
See
Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature (Museum of Hunting and Nature)
Entering the Museum of Hunting and Nature is like stepping into someone's house – with sleeping foxes, stuffed bears and a pair of a little girl's red shoes dangling next to the wolf exhibit. Strange, eclectic and beautiful, it's unlike any of the other museums in Paris.
This classic French tea salon is one-of-a-kind, with its special tea-infused pastries and delectable cakes. Sip, savour and get lost in the voluminous menu containing dozens of unique brews – there’s even a tea museum underneath the parlour detailing the exquisite history of this drink.
Walking in Paris is the way this city was designed to be taken in. From the Le Marais district up to the Sacré Cœur, you’ll encounter the City of Light’s changing arrondissements, including the eclectic Montmartre. When you reach the Sacred Heart at the highest point in the city, it’s practically a religious experience.
Do
Clos Montmartre
You wouldn't think it, but there's a tiny vineyard growing right in the middle of Paris. The Montmarte vineyards are charmingly nestled right into the neighbourhood. As the story goes, the vineyards also stand on top of ground where a temple devoted to Dionysus, the god of wine, once stood.
Location
14-18 Rue des Saules
Eat
Café Constant
This outpost by acclaimed Parisian chef Christian Constant is always packed to the brim for good reason. Simple classics are done to perfection, such as the roasted chicken with tarragon potatoes. Paired with generous slabs of herbed butter, you’ll be licking it off your plate.
A hop and a skip away from the Eiffel Tower, between Rue de Grenelle and Avenue de la Motte Picquet, is the Rue Cler market, where impossibly perfect-looking produce and specialty shops line the cobblestoned street. From Miel et Nature, a store that devotes itself solely to honey, to the friendly and homey Tribeca café, it's the place to lose yourself for an afternoon.
