(HONG KONG) Forty-two excited new Dragonair recruits graduated from their seven week training course on 22 February as the airline looks to expand its cabin crew workforce.
The carrier is looking to recruit around 300 high-calibre candidates this year.
The 42 new crew were selected during a walk-in interview session held in October last year and underwent training from December to January.
During the graduation ceremony which was hosted by Dragonair CEO James Tong and attended by the graduate’s families and friends, the new recruits shared their experiences during the seven-week programme and thanked the instructors for their patience and understanding. Many expressed that they had hard times during the induction course as they were required to get a full understanding to the configuration of aircrafts, service and safety procedures and other inflight security matters within a short period of time. However, with the patience and guidance of the instructors, they learnt to become more independent, able to deal with the odds and eventually overcome all difficulties and successfully become members of cabin crew community. Their sincerest sharing touched all guests and parents that were present at this meaningful occasion.
Dragonair General Manager Inflight Services Cecilia Leung said: “Dragonair’s cabin crew is known for providing world-class and heart-warming service to passengers and the training programme is the first step is teaching new recruits about all the different aspects of the airline. The unique experience and invaluable exposure from this job are something one may not be able to get in other industry.”
“I would like to congratulate the new graduates as they start their careers as cabin crew. I’m sure they will do Dragonair proud!”
Dragonair is continuing to recruit new candidates to join the airline’s cabin crew workforce. Interested candidates can submit their applications with full resume via email. Potential applicants will attend a series of screening exercises including two rounds of interviews and a written test, with successful applicants undergoing a comprehensive two-month training programme.
Dragonair offers good career development and advancement opportunities to its cabin crew. On the basis of seniority and working performance, a junior can be promoted to senior positions such as Flight Purser, Senior Purser and Chief Purser. They are also given the opportunities and advancement to perform various ground functions such as training, administration and even management positions.
