    When it comes to exemplary service in Asia, we’re often spoiled, so it’s no surprise there was a tough battle in this category. In the end, Mandarin Oriental pipped Shangri-La and Four Seasons to the post to claim the title of best hotel brand. The luxury hospitality group has a number of projects in the pipeline, notably two new properties opening in Beijing next year: the Mandarin Oriental, Wangfujing and the hutong-based Mandarin Oriental, Qianmen.

    Aman

    With 33 luxury hotels and resorts spread across 21 countries, Aman is known for its peaceful retreats and conservation efforts, with locations ranging from Unesco World Heritage sites to city centres.

    Andaz

    Personal style is the byword for Hyatt’s lifestyle boutique Andaz brand, with individually designed properties that offer a sense of place through interactions with surrounding neighbourhoods and collaborations with local artists, brands and charities.

    Four Seasons

    A stalwart of the industry since 1961, the upscale Four Seasons brand now has 112 luxury properties in 47 countries and is a regular visitor to the top spot of awards lists.

    Hyatt

    A classic choice for the business traveller, Hyatt hotels tick all the practical boxes with city centre locations, a choice of bars and restaurants and restful, ergonomic guest rooms.

    Rosewood

    Designed to offer a residential feel, this fast-growing luxury brand is owned by Hong Kong’s Rosewood Hotel Group, with a Hong Kong property due to open on Kowloon waterfront soon.

    Shangri-La

    Famously named after the mythical place in James Hilton’s 1933 novel Lost Horizon, this luxury hotelier is another homegrown Hong Kong brand, encompassing the Kerry and Hotel Jen brands.

    Six Senses

    Barefoot luxury was the calling card of Six Senses when it started out in the 1990s. Today, the resorts’ focus also falls across spas, wellness and sustainability.

    Swire Hotels

    With just seven hotels in the portfolio across The House Collective and East brands, Swire Hotels properties have made their mark with exquisite designs and enviable locations. (Swire is the primary shareholder of Cathay Pacific.)

    The Peninsula

    Hong Kong’s oldest hotel , the Tsim Sha Tsui-based grande dame first opened in 1928 and remains one of the stays of choice of visiting celebrities, with its fleet of Rolls-Royces (and a helicopter) ready and waiting for guests.
