The Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles

From 15 April 2016 onwards, members will earn status based on a club points system, instead of the previous club miles/club sectors system. You will be able to earn faster in premium classes, and in more fare classes than before. We have retained the most popular benefits of the club, such as unlimited lounge access for Silver members and above, and priority boarding and check-in, and added mid-tier benefits, such as Lounge Passes, Bookable Upgrades and Companion Cards.

On 15 April 2016, the Marco Polo Club converted the higher balance of either your club miles or club sectors proportionately to club points. Your current membership period does not change, and lasts 12 months from the date you have enrolled, renewed, upgraded or downgraded from your current tier.

Club points are the way you qualify for Marco Polo Club status. Club points are calculated based on a combination of airline, cabin, fare class, and distance travelled. We have prepared a number of tools to help you understand how club points are calculated, including a club points earning grid and a club points calculator.

Learn more about earning club points >

The number of club points earned determines your tier status. Upon renewal, upgrade or downgrade, your club points will automatically be reset to zero and a new membership year begins. Asia Miles are the currency for flight or lifestyle award redemptions and are valid for three years.

Tickets are divided into fare classes, each with different terms and conditions. These fare classes are indicated by alphabetical characters, such as “I”, “M” or “V”. You can view your fare class under “Booking Cabin” when you’re booking or under “Class” in your itinerary.

Yes. As with Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon, club points are calculated based on a combination of the airline, cabin, fare class, and distance travelled.

Please see the accumulated grid here.

Yes, the benefits you enjoy, and the number of club points and Asia Miles you earn, are based on your upgraded subclass.

Your Marco Polo Club membership is renewed annually. Club points in your account are reset to zero either on your annual renewal or when you qualify for a tier upgrade/downgrade. Once either of these happens, the club points in your previous membership period are reset to zero.

To claim missing air mileage, log on to your account at www.cathaypacific.com and click “Manage Your club points and/or Asia Miles” and then “Claim Missing club points and/or Asia Miles” to complete a Missing Mileage Request Form online.

There are four tiers in the club – Green, Silver, Gold, and Diamond – and each offers its members a wide range of privileges and exclusive benefits. The travel benefits also extend to all oneworld airlines, and more benefits on the ground with any of our hotel and car-rental partners.

Please visit the club benefits page to learn more

Mid-tier benefits are benefits available to members when they reach certain club points milestones in their tier. These benefits vary according to the tier, but can include Lounge Passes, Bookable Upgrades, and Companion Gold Cards. These mid-tier benefits are complimentary – your club points and Asia Miles balances remain unchanged.

Please visit the club benefits page to learn more about mid-tier benefits for the tiers.

Log on to your account and select Mid-tier Benefits Summary in the top-left of the navigation pane of your account page. Your mid-tier benefits will automatically appear once you have reached the required number of club points.

Mid-tier benefits are to reward our members when they surpass the club points at their current tier level. Gold members can enjoy a Bookable Upgrade only for ultra-short, short, or medium haul flights. In contrast, Diamond members can enjoy a Bookable Upgrade for all flight distances in recognition of the higher number of club points achieved. Diamond members can also continue to enjoy benefits exclusive to their tier, such as unlimited First Class and Business Class lounge access with two guests when flying with Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, or any oneworld airline. Lounge Passes for Green, Silver, and Gold members are just for Business Class lounges.

We have retained unlimited First and Business Class Lounge Access, including two guests for Diamond members; however, this is available only on departing flights marketed and operated by Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, or a oneworld carrier.

Guaranteed Seat Reservation is a benefit for Gold and Diamond members that allow them to reserve a seat on any flight, no matter how full it is. Gold and Diamond members can request a guaranteed seat in Economy Class (Y) for Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon flights. Diamond members can also request a guaranteed seat in Premium Economy Class (W), and Business Class (J) on Cathay Pacific flights only. This is applicable only to full fare tickets. Requests for Guaranteed Seat Reservations can be made via the Marco Polo Club service line.

For more details, please visit the club benefits page and terms and conditions.

Travellers aged 12 and over are eligible to become Green members in the Marco Polo Club by paying an enrolment fee of USD100. Members below 18 years of age require the consent of a parent or legal guardian to join.
