Dragonair welcomes reappointment of airport authority chairman

28 Oct 2013

Dragonair has welcomed the reappointment of Dr Marvin Cheung Kin-tung as Chairman of Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), and at the same time expressed its thanks to Mr Stanley Hui who will step down as AAHK Chief Executive Officer next year.

Commenting on Dr Cheung’s reappointment for one more year with effect from 1 June 2014, Dragonair CEO Patrick Yeung said: "We are pleased that the AAHK has opted for continuity by reappointing Dr Cheung into the Chairman role. This is particularly important at a time when planning for the third runway at Hong Kong International Airport is set to reach a critical stage.

“A third runway is crucial to the long-term development of Hong Kong as an international aviation hub and I believe that Dr Cheung is the right man to lead the AAHK through the immediate challenges ahead,” Mr Yeung said.

At the same time as confirming Dr Cheung’s reappointment, the AAHK announced that Stanley Hui will step down as CEO from July 2014.

“Mr Hui has been a key player in the local aviation industry for many years and he has made an invaluable contribution to the development of our home hub. We wish him all the best for the future,” Mr Yeung said.
