5 Cathay membership programme updates to know, effective from 1 January 2027

Simpler mechanisms, more exclusive benefits and a new status – we break down the new updates in detail

We’re evolving our membership programme to be simpler, smoother and better while offering greater value to members. These changes will take effect on 1 January 2027. Your current membership status in 2025 and associated status benefits will remain in place and valid through to the current expiry date. In the meantime, we will transition you seamlessly to the enhanced programme. Here’s what’s new – and what it means for you.

1. Seamless status progression

Rather than resetting to zero, every Status Point you earn now counts towards your next status upgrade – and the one beyond. For example, if you reach Silver at 300 Status Points, those points continue accruing towards Gold (600 points). This means you’re now potentially able to unlock multiple statuses in a single year without starting over.

2. A standardised membership cycle

From 1 January 2027, we’re moving to a standardised membership cycle, running from 1 January to 31 December every year. This makes it easier to track your Status Points and plan your travel. Even better: when you upgrade to a new status, you’ll enjoy its benefits for the remainder of the current year plus the following year.

3. Status Points rollover

Earn more than 600 Status Points in a year? Gold members and above can roll over  their excess points to the following year (up to 50 per cent of the required Status Points of the highest achieved membership status earned within that year) , giving you a head start on retaining your status or climbing to the next one.

For example, if you earn 1,500 Status Points by 31 Dec 2027, you'll qualify as a Diamond member and will be able to carry over the excess 300 Status Points to 2028.

4. A new diamond status awaits

  • Dedicated Relationship Manager: personalised service to assist with booking enquiries and support in case of travel disruption.

* Diamond Plus is an invitation-only status for Diamond and Diamond Exec members, based on their annual fare spending of flights flown on Cathay Pacific.

5. A complimentary Diamond year

For members who’ve held Diamond status for five years or more, we’re launching Diamond Membership Reserve. For every 6,000 Status Points you’ve earned since 2016, you’ll earn a complimentary Diamond membership for up to one year – which can be activated at any time, with no expiry date.
