Cathay Pacific European services remain normal

10 May 2010

Cathay Pacific Airways advised passengers today that its European services, though operating normally at the moment, may be subject to delays and/or diversions due to further volcanic activity in Iceland and the spread of ash cloud over parts of Europe.

Ivan Chu, Director Service Delivery said: “At present we expect to continue to operate our European flights as normal. However, the situation in European airports can be very fluid because of the Icelandic volcano and we will do everything possible to minimise inconvenience to our passengers.”

A Cathay Pacific Milan-bound flight on 9 May was diverted to Frankfurt due to closure of Italian airspace. The airline made arrangements to send passengers to Milan by buses on the same day. No other flights were disrupted over the past weekend.

Passengers are encouraged to enter their contact details in Manage My Booking to receive the latest flight status and to check the airline’s website, www.cathaypacific.com for the latest flight information before leaving for the airport.

Cathay Pacific continues to monitor the situation closely and will issue further updates once more information becomes available.
