Cathay Pacific statement on CAD’s updated report on CX780 emergency landing
11 Aug 2010
We welcome the updated report issued by the Civil Aviation Department on its investigation into the emergency landing of our flight CX780 from Surabaya at Hong Kong International Airport on 13 April 2010.
The CAD report indicates that there was no fault with our aircraft and engine control systems, but that they were compromised by external fuel contaminants.
We appreciate that the exact nature and source of external contaminants have not been determined and is the subject of further investigation.
However, since the CX780 occurrence, no abnormalities have been reported or observed by Cathay Pacific or other airlines operating flights out of Surabaya, nor have there been any indications of similar problems affecting our A330 aircraft fleet or those of other airlines.
We will continue to co-operate and work closely with the CAD in its continuing investigation.
