A little bit of background

Fossil is known for classic watches that bring a touch of understated luxury to the everyday, and this model is no exception. As part of the brand’s Machine collection of durable sports watches with moto-inspired design elements, it balances a rugged, heavy-duty look with impeccable timekeeping. The collection consists of quartz, automatic, two-hand, three-hand and chronograph watches.

This specific Fossil Machine watch comprises a 49mm black stainless-steel case, a black sunray textured dial, a signature knurled bezel, and a 24mm leather strap with a single prong strap buckle. Notably, the strap is made of genuine cow leather that’s been processed using a resource-efficient method that reduces water and energy consumption, CO2 emissions and wastewater pollution.

Convenience and reliability are the focus here: as a battery-powered quartz watch, this model ensures high precision day after day, with minimal maintenance needed. In addition to three hands for hours, minutes and seconds, there's a small window display near the 6 o’clock position that shows the current date. And with a case that’s water resistant up to roughly 100 metres, the Fossil Machine is well equipped to handle everyday water exposure.

First impressions

With its simple silhouette and dark hues, this timepiece is a practical yet premium present for the low-key man in your life – especially if he tends to shy away from more flashy accessories. The dial’s geometric, gold-tone details are striking, offering an elegant contrast to the more rustic look of the dark leather. Altogether, this watch brings just the right amount of style while still being versatile enough to suit all outfits and occasions, from the office to the gym to date night.

Any cons?

Thanks to its sturdy build, the watch has a weighty feel compared to other models, with a larger dial and a wide strap that may feel somewhat rigid at first. However, both issues are resolved over time, as the weight becomes familiar and the strap softens with continued wear.

Final thoughts

Designed to last, this Fossil watch is  ideal for effortless daily use, especially for those who prioritise functionality and precise timekeeping.
