We all know that browsing products online isn’t the same as taking them for a test spin, so we’re here to help. In our series of in-depth reviews, our editors pick out products you may be curious about and provide the lowdown on all their features. This time, we’re reviewing Foreo’s Luna™ 4, a two-in-one smart facial cleansing and firming device.
As we approach winter, in addition to updating your skincare essentials, you might want to consider supercharging your daily regimen. Read our review to learn more about how the cleansing brush works, then head to Cathay Shop to purchase it if you’re interested.

Made of bacteria-resistant soft silicone that’s significantly more hygienic than nylon bristles, the device is clinically proven to remove 99 per cent of dirt, oil and makeup residue from deep within pores while gently exfoliating dead skin cells to help reduce breakouts. It also preps skin and improves absorption of skincare products, making it an ideal first step of your routine. The latest model of Foreo’s popular cleanser, the Luna™ 4 also features a new travel lock function for on-the-go use.
The brush comes in three colours for different skin types: pistachio for combination skin, peach for balanced skin and lavender for sensitive skin. You can further customise your experience with the device’s gentle, regular and deep cleansing modes.
In addition to cleansing, the Luna™ 4’s T-Sonic™ pulsations also promote skin firming, with 16 adjustable intensities that boost circulation and reduce swelling. The device also comes with five massage patterns that target various areas, such as relieving muscle tension and tightness, as well as reducing fine lines, sagging and other signs of ageing.

Off the bat, I found this facial cleansing brush to be very user-friendly and low maintenance. It’s 100 per cent waterproof, making it easy to clean, and USB-rechargeable, with up to 600 uses per charge. Buttons on the device allow you to easily swap between the gentle, regular and deep cleansing modes alongside the firming massage mode.
To use the cleansing mode, simply apply cleanser to damp skin and glide the touchpoints over your face in a circular motion, rinsing your face to finish. For the firming massage mode, apply serum to dry skin and massage the touchpoints in outward motions along the contours of your face, before continuing with your usual routine. There’s a built-in timer for both, meaning the device automatically turns off: one session of cleansing is one minute, while the firming massage mode lasts eight minutes.
I particularly enjoyed using Luna™ 4 as a facial cleansing device. I paired it with my normal face wash, and my skin felt softer, smoother and more refreshed than normal. The firming massage mode is also a convenient substitute for gua sha, reducing facial puffiness in the morning, with the T-Sonic pulsations doing all the work for you.
With the flat and wide shape of Luna™ 4, it was slightly difficult to reach certain areas, such as the under-eye region and the sides of the nose. For these areas, perhaps a longer and slimmer shape would be more suitable.
If you struggle with acne, dullness or puffiness – or if you’re just hoping to achieve an even healthier complexion – the Foreo Luna™ 4 face cleansing device will give your existing skincare routine that little oomph. It’s hygienic, gentle on skin, easy to use and comes with plenty of options for personalisation according to your individual skin needs.
