Dragonair Website and Mobile Sites Temporarily Suspended on 11 and 12 February as New Reservations System Introduced

02 Feb 2012

Dragonair will switch over to a new passenger reservations system on the weekend of 11 and 12 February to help ensure it can meet passengers’ needs in the future.

During the transition to new system, it will be necessary for the airline to temporarily suspend various customer-facing technologies and services, including the Dragonair website and its mobile sites. The airline’s flights over the weekend will not be affected by the system change.

The new Altéa reservation and inventory system is provided by Amadeus, a system that has been widely adopted in the global travel and tourism industry, including by the majority of oneworld alliance carriers.  Dragonair is an affiliate member of oneworld.

The Dragonair website will be taken offline worldwide at approximately 3pm Hong Kong time on Saturday, 11 February. Functionality will be brought back online in stages throughout the day on Sunday, 12 February.  The majority of the site will be available by 8pm Hong Kong time on Sunday.

Services such as online check-in and self-service kiosks at airports will also be unavailable throughout much of the weekend.  More information on which services will be unavailable along with potential alternatives is provided in the attached Appendix.

Dragonair will be unable to sell or change tickets from approximately 3pm Hong Kong time on Saturday, 11 February, until the system comes back online the following day.  Travel agents will be able to request new reservations, but the bookings will not be confirmed until the system resumes service.  Passengers needing to buy or change tickets or make special requests for travel on 11 or 12 February are encouraged to do so prior to that weekend.

Dragonair plans to operate its normal flight schedule during the weekend of the transition. Passengers travelling on electronic tickets should bring copy of their e-tickets to the airport.

In the week following the transition, Dragonair call centres may experience higher than normal call volumes. Should that be the case, the airline will do all possible to minimise inconvenience and passengers’ patience is appreciated.

Leading up to the transition, passengers are encouraged to visit the Dragonair website at www.dragonair.com for more details.  During the cutover weekend, passengers may visit Dragonair’s Facebook (www.facebook.com/dragonair) or Twitter (www.twitter.com/dragonair) pages for updated information such as the status of flights.
