Cathay Pacific plans to resume normal services to Europe

21 Apr 2010

With the re-opening of airports and airspaces in Europe, Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it plans to resume normal schedule of services to and from Europe from the morning of 22 April.

The airline is doing its utmost to bring stranded passengers to their destinations as soon as possible. Today nine flights to Europe and three Hong Kong-bound flights from Europe have departed, carrying over 3,000 and 1,000 passengers respectively. However, the airline expects it will take weeks to clear the backlog.

Cathay Pacific has arranged two more additional flights from London to Hong Kong as per timetable listed, taking the total number of extra sectors to four. Subject to government approval and crew availability, Cathay Pacific plans to upgrade a total of 29 pairs of flights to London and Rome, providing about 2,900 more seats. Two pairs of extra flights to a European point still to be determined on the basis of slot availability.

Passengers are advised to check the airline’s website, www.cathaypacific.com for their alternative flight arrangements using Manage My Booking service and for the latest flight information before leaving for the airport.

Passengers who do not have confirmed bookings are strongly advised not to go to the airport as acceptance of standby passengers at airport is not likely. Those passengers with confirmed bookings are advised to arrive at the airport about three hours before scheduled departure.

Dedicated zones are set up for different groups of passengers at Hong Kong International Airport in order for the airline to offer quick and smooth check-in for passengers with confirmed bookings and the airline appeals to passengers to follow advice from the airline staff.

Passengers without confirmed bookings should contact Cathay Pacific Reservation number – 2747-1888 for booking and ticketing arrangements.

Cathay Pacific thanks passengers for their patience and understanding during these trying times for them.
