As the holiday season rolls around, you can expect Hong Kong’s shopping malls to pull out all the stops with sparkly decorations, cheery markets and fun-filled activities. Waiting to see what dazzling new spectacle each venue puts on has become a city-wide tradition. Take a peek at the festive displays we’re excited to see this year.

Pacific Place: ChristmasVille 

Balancing elegance and playfulness in equal measure, Pacific Place in Admiralty delights every year with its winter installations. In 2024, it welcomes visitors to ChristmasVille , a series of cosy, moss-covered forest dwellings, inhabited by furry monsters who are waiting eagerly to greet you. You’ll also be able to visit Santa in his grotto, take part in gift workshops and enrol little ones in exciting activities. Reservations are open now.

IFC: Santa’s Magic Toy Factory 

Visitors to the IFC mall in Central can relive Christmases past as they explore this year’s nostalgia-tinged display. Santa’s Magic Toy Factory is designed to replicate an old-fashioned workshop: look beyond the red brick shopfront and festively dressed windows to find whimsical workstations and toy assembly rooms. Then there’s Santa’s cosy office, complete with Christmas tree, where families can meet the jolly man in red.

Festival Walk: Hangyodon Winter Fun Fest 

Festival Walk is celebrating a kawaii Christmas this year with the Hangyodon Winter Fun Fest . Head to this mall, conveniently located right above Kowloon Tong MTR station, for fluorescent-coloured mega-installations inspired by the quirky Sanrio character. The centrepiece is a five-metre, neon pink and blue snow-capped mountain, on which Hangyodon’s face is illuminated by LED lights. Along with plenty of photos, take home limited-edition merchandise including Hangyodon-themed tote bags and LED light sticks.

Landmark: Wrap It Up

Avid gift givers will love the displays at Landmark this year. This upscale mall in Central has enlisted the talents of cultural curator Sarah Andelman and 10 renowned artists to create Wrap It Up! , an homage to the art of gift wrapping. The focal point is a 360-degree candy-coloured installation divided into several distinct zones. Beside it, you’ll find a cake shop selling delicious holiday treats, among other seasonal delights.

Citygate Outlets: Dinotaeng 

For the year’s happiest season, the world’s happiest animal has taken up residence at Citygate Outlets in Tung Chung. Across a series of installations created in collaboration with Korean brand Dinotaeng – from a shimmering indoor igloo to a lively outdoor ski park – you’ll find Dinotaeng’s cute mascot, Quokka, and his many friends, who are just as adorable. Look out, too, for interactive games and a pop-up store selling themed gifts like plushies and stationery.

Harbour City: The Big Little Christmas

The elaborate displays at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui never disappoint. This winter, the mall has gone larger than life for The Big Little Christmas , an installation created in collaboration with Japanese miniature artist Tatsuya Tanaka. Visitors can become one of the many tiny figures that populate Tanaka’s artwork as they explore a supersized model of Santa Claus’ work desk. Wander among giant books, past Santa’s candy cane sleigh and marvel at a giant hat that transforms into a 10-metre-high Christmas tree.
