The Jockey

Chart a course for this Happy Valley restaurant: a pub which faces onto a nearby racetrack. As a popular spot for horse-racing fans and the local rugby team, this laidback pub is always filled with people looking for a pint and no-fuss grub. Little Bao Diner

Chef May Chow is something of a celebrity in Hong Kong’s food scene and Little Bao put her on the map. The restaurant’s Causeway Bay branch is also within the vicinity of Hong Kong Stadium – a godsend if you’re drained after a long day of cheering, drinking, and standing around in the heat. Combining American burger culture with modern baos, you’ll find everything from hoisin ketchup drizzled pork belly to vegetarian-friendly shiitake tempeh pillowed between gigantic steamed buns. The xiaolongbao soup dumplings at this hotspot have made headlines all over the world – including the Michelin Guide and the New York Times, to name just a two. While you might have to queue at its Causeway Bay branch, the wait is always worth it, and you’ll want to order at least one steaming basket of their signature xiaolongbao. Beyond its dumplings, satisfy your cravings with plates of string beans topped with minced pork, nutty dan dan noodles and their dessert buns, stuffed with everything from red bean to purple taro.
