What is the Greater Bay Area?

The Greater Bay Area, also known as the GBA, is the world’s largest and fastest-growing bay area, connecting Hong Kong, Macao and nine cities in Guangdong province: Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing. Together, they form a megalopolis – an innovation hub with global influence in the southern Chinese Mainland. But the appeal of the GBA extends far beyond business.

Go a little further and you’ll find incredible experiences around every corner. Wander the cobbled streets of Taipa village in Macao, where old-world charm meets modern allure. Feast on steaming baskets of dim sum in Guangzhou. Find tranquillity in the serene mountains, lakes and caves of Zhaoqing. All this, and more, is yours to explore. Getting there and back

We offer convenient efficient ways to travel between Hong Kong International Airport and the GBA. Passengers can seamlessly connect to the region's major ports via high-speed ferry transfers, their bags checked through to their final destination. A frequent schedule of coaches and limousines offers an extra layer of convenience.

Passengers travelling to Hong Kong via our coach and ferry transfers from the GBA are exempt from the air passenger departure tax. If your ferry or coach ticket is purchased separately from your flight, you may still apply for a refund of the departure tax. Learn more .
