What to know before you fly
While the risk of COVID-19 transmission on board remains very low, we continue to implement measures to safeguard the wellbeing of our passengers and crew.
If you need to postpone your travel, find out more about our ticket change options on our Change, cancel or refund your flight page.
For passengers arriving into Hong Kong
The Hong Kong SAR Government has removed most COVID-19 related entry requirements.
All passengers must undergo either a self administered RAT test or a PCR test prior to arriving and have the test result ready to show Health authorities on arrival if asked. Visit Restrictions for passengers travelling to Hong Kong to learn more.
For all passengers
If you are feeling unwell
We’re unable to accept anyone presenting with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 for travel. Please postpone your travel if you are feeling unwell with respiratory symptoms, such as a fever, cough, sore throat or muscle aches.
Passengers that have been diagnosed with COVID-19 should carry documentation confirming they have recovered and are no longer contagious in case this is requested by authorities on departure, arrival or during any transit stops.
Face coverings requirement
To protect the wellbeing of all passengers and our crew on board, and to comply with the requirements of the Hong Kong SAR Centre for Health Protection, if you are two years of age or older, you must wear a face covering when travelling with us. This includes:
- during boarding;
- in the aircraft cabin;
- during disembarkation; and
- when directed by our airport team or cabin crew.
Subject to the Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection requirements, we’re unable to accept anyone not wearing a face covering for travel.
Inflight
You must keep your face covering on at all times and only remove it during the short periods that you are eating or drinking.
Please also remember to remove your face covering if you are required to use the oxygen masks for any reason.
At the airport
You may also be required, by law, to wear a face covering in some airport terminals. This is a legal requirement at Hong Kong International Airport.
Bring your own
We kindly ask that you bring your own appropriate face covering to wear throughout your journey. It should fit snugly against your face and cover the mouth and nose without gaps.
Prohibited items
As they may not be fully effective, masks with exhalation valves or vents are prohibited when travelling on all Cathay Pacific aircraft, at Hong Kong International Airport.
Passengers are prohibited from wearing personal air purifying shields on board, as this product contains a rechargeable lithium battery and risks blocking access to oxygen masks (if required).
