Flying to London? Here's what you need to prepare.

Download our checklist and get ready for your journey

As part of the UK government’s COVID-19 response, passengers require the following additional documentation for entry into the UK. To ensure your arrival in London is a smooth one, our staff will ask to check these documents upon check-in.

Pre-departure negative COVID-19 test report

Pre-departure negative COVID-19 test report

If you are aged 11 years or older, a pre-departure COVID-19 test must be conducted within three days of the scheduled flight departure.

You will need to show your official test result report which must be in English, and include your name which is identical to your travel document. E.g. if your name shows “JOHNSTON MATTHEW” on your passport, the exact name “JOHNSTON MATTHEW” must also be printed on your test report.

Pre-booked COVID-19 test for arrival

Pre-booked COVID-19 test for arrival

Before arriving in England, you must book and pre-pay for a COVID-19 test, to take place on day 2 after your arrival (arrival date is day 0). This can be arranged via any of the health providers listed on the UK government website. The test can be pre-booked online on the chosen provider’s website.

Quarantine is required upon arrival for 10 days at home or at your chosen place of stay.

If you are connecting to another flight in London, you do not need to complete the arrival test however, you will still need to have a pre-departure COVID-19 test and complete the following Passenger Locator Form.

A completed Passenger Locator Form

A completed Passenger Locator Form

A Passenger Locator Form must be submitted online prior to arrival in the UK, at any time in the 48 hours before you arrive. As there are potential fines for not completing this form accurately, we’ve put together the following information to help you prepare for check-in before your flight to London:

  • Complete one form per person. If someone under 18 years old is travelling with you and staying at the same UK address as you, they can be included on your form.
  • As the form requires your seat number, please check in online before coming to the airport so you can choose your preferred seat ahead of time. We will provide you with your boarding pass at the airport after checking your travel documents.
  • If you are staying in the UK, you are required to book and pre-pay for two COVID-19 tests as above. The booking reference for these tests must also be included in the Passenger Locator Form. A valid booking reference number will be in the form of five letters followed by a series of alphanumeric characters (e.g. ABCDE1122XX33).
