What’s on the Menu

Taste, authenticity and freshness of our in-flight meals are essential. Our menus, featuring a wide range of cuisines from around the world, are carefully prepared to give our passengers a choice of meals to suit their needs.

Creating our range of Signature Chinese dishes has been a labour of love. Carefully prepared and selected by our Chinese food culinary team, the dishes are truly a taste of Hong Kong and China. In First and Business Class, the Chinese main course is served with a bowl of steaming hot jasmine rice.

Prepared to Order

In First Class, we were one of the first airlines to have rice cookers, toasters and skillets on board our aircraft, enabling our flight attendants to prepare freshly steamed rice, toasted bread and eggs cooked to your liking. Also in First Class, our passengers can dine à la carte by choosing when they prefer to eat.

Freshly Brewed for You

In First and Business Class on most of our flights, try a freshly made Espresso, Cafe Latté or Cappuccino, or a nice cup of Chinese tea in all classes to strike a perfect finale to your meal.

Oodles of noodles

What better than a bowl of hot noodle soup either to tide you over or as a meal choice. In First and Business Class on selected routes to and from Hong Kong, we feature regional noodle soups that are the perfect light meal.

Snacks on long-haul flights

We keep our galleys stocked up with a variety of tasty treats such as noodle soup, sandwiches, cookies and apples. So the next time you are feeling a little peckish…just ask one of our flight attendants.

Ice cream, just dessert!

In Economy class on long haul routes what better to finish your main meal than an ice cream for dessert.

Grocery List
Our 2013 grocery list (for flights departing from Hong Kong) amounted to approximately 270,000 kg of eggs, 419,000 kg of chicken, 196,000 kg of fish, 205,000 kg of beef, 242,000 kg of pork, 2,661,000 kg of fresh fruits, 1,121,000 kg of fresh vegetables, and 107,000 kg of cheese. That’s one large shopping basket!

Inspired dining by Pino Lavarra

Cathay Pacific is pleased to offer a selection of dishes specially created by Chef Pino Lavarra, Director of Tosca at The Ritz-Carlton on selected flights from Hong Kong during the months of May, June and July.

Born in Putignano, in Puglia, Italy, Chef Lavarra’s passion for food originated in his childhood; his mother was the school cook with a cooking style that was simple, yet full of love.

His desire to explore a career in the culinary world was fully realised at the tender age of 14, when he started his professional training at the catering school in Castelana Grotte.

Chef Lavarra’s culinary journey has seen him work with renowned contemporaries such as chefs Paolo Simeoni, Anthony Genovese and Raymond Blanc.

In 2002, Chef Lavarra was awarded the ultimate culinary accolade, his first Michelin Star as chef of Rosellinis, at the Palazzo Sasso hotel on the Amalfi Coast. This was followed by a second Star in 2004. In 2013, a Michelin Star was awarded to Tosca, an incredible feat as it has been only eight months since Chef Lavarra took the helm as director.

His authentic Italian delicacies prepared in a contemporary and sensory style, have earned him recognition as “one of the best chefs in the world” from the likes of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences.

Meursault is a large village located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France, which produces some of the best Chardonnay wine in the world.  The 2011 Louis Jadot Meursault has a delectable nose with attractive aromas of ripe fruits. It is creamy and supple with generous fruit interlaced with distinctive hazelnut and spice nuances through to a sustained finish.  Fish and poultry dishes with cream sauce will pair wonderfully with this wine.

Yangarra Estate Vineyard McLaren Vale Shiraz 2009

Yangarra is a biodynamic wine farm in the northeast of the McLaren Vale region in South Australia.  This full-bodied wine displays lush black fruits which oozes of prune and blackberry, followed by dark chocolate and a hint of leather.  This is a robust wine of great depth.

Château Lagrange 2006 is a deep opaque colour with purple red nuances. The flavours of sweet cassis, liquorice, herb, and spice box are beautifully integrated with oak tannins. It is full-bodied and powerful, with outstanding purity, texture, and depth. A stylish wine with length and presence, its textured tannins give good structure around the fruit.

Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2013

This award winning New Zealand wine has attractive aromas of grapefruit, infused with minerals and herbs. On the palate, it is full and soft with layers of generous flavours of tropical fruits that unfold to more savoury notes and a zesty lime-edged finish. It is a perfect aperitif and also pairs well with a variety of foods including seafood dishes.

Morgon Château Des Jacques 2010

Morgon is one of the ten cru villages in Beaujolais, located in the southern part of the Burgundy region in France. This delicious Morgon, made from Gamay grapes, is dry with a lot of cherry and berry fruit on the palate followed by silky tannins. It pairs well with meat dishes in sauce, stews and wild games.

Clemente VII Toscana 2007

Clemente VII Toscana 2007

This elegant wine is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah grapes from the Chianti Classico area in Tuscany.  It offers an intense and rich bouquet and opens with plush layers of black fruit, chocolate and black pepper. Full bodied and ripe, it is beautifully balanced with a persistent aftertaste.
