Cathay Pacific looks into operating additional flights and increasing capacity tomorrow; Passengers without confirmed bookings advised not to go to Airport and check latest flight information online

23 Sep 2013

Cathay Pacific Airways is looking into the feasibility of operating additional flights and increasing capacity tomorrow (24 September) to help those passengers whose flights were cancelled as a result of Typhoon Usagi. The planned additional flights will operate depending on the availability of departure slots at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). More details will be announced once the extra flights and capacity can be confirmed.

The airline is gradually resuming its flight services from 12 noon today (23 September), weather and safety conditions permitting. However, passengers without confirmed bookings or whose flights have been cancelled are advised not to go to the airport as the chance of securing a seat on a standby basis at the check-in counters is very low.

It is anticipated that flights may still be delayed or disrupted today due to adverse weather and operational constraints. The airline regrets any inconvenience this may cause and hopes for passengers’ understanding.

The airline is actively making alternative arrangements for those whose flights have been cancelled. Passengers should check the latest flight information and their flight booking details on the airline’s website, www.cathaypacific.com, before departing for the airport.

Meanwhile, those with confirmed bookings are advised not to arrive at the airport more than three hours before the estimated departure time of their flight.

Cathay Pacific will waive re-booking fees for all tickets issued worldwide (irrespective of fare type) on or before 20 September for travel on its flights between 22 September (Hong Kong time) and 24 September.

To ensure they receive the latest flight status updates via SMS or email, customers are advised to update their contact details in Manage My Booking at www.cathaypacific.com.
