What you'll learn

Our eight-weekinternship programmeoffers you the chance to gain invaluable exposure to the aviation industry that cangive you a competitive edge and help get your career off to a flying start.

With us you will get a taste ofhow the Engineering department of a major airline carrier operates, as well as the chance to tour exciting aircraft andlearn how aircraft flight systems work. Visits to our 24-hour Operations Centre and HAECO, our maintenance and repair organisation, will ensure that you gain a good understanding of what it takes to deliver sale, compliant and reliable aircraft.

During the programme you will receive a series of briefings from Cathay Pacific Engineers on a range of topics such as ground safety, maintenance control and support, reliability, and aircraft theory of flight and aircraft systems.

If you perform well during your internship and show us a passion for engineering and aviation, you'll be exempted from part of the selection process should you decide to apply for our two-year Engineering Traineeship Programmeonce you complete your studies.

Who you'll learn from

Our programme will assign you to an experienced technical team that's suited to your background, where senior engineers will share their experience and knowledge and give you an up-close look at their daily life as part of the Cathay Pacific team. You'll also have the opportunity to meet lots of passionate Engineering students like yourself - some of whom may even become future colleagues.

To better fit with your vacation schedule, our8-week internship programme has two intakes:

  • Winter Intake – Dec 2013 to Feb 2014
  • Summer Intake – Jun 2014 to Aug 2014

What you'll need

To be considered for a place in our internship program, you'll need to possess:

  • The right of abode in Hong Kong. Alternatively, PRC Nationals who are eligible to work in Hong Kong under the new immigration policy are welcome to apply.
  • HKIE ACE recognised or Washington Accord accredited degree
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua is a definite advantage)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-leading abilities
  • Creativity and strategic thinking
  • Availability to work the full 8 weeks


Winter Intake applications: 30 September 2013
Students studying overseas who submit application prior 10 August 2013 may be shortlisted for selection before end of August.

Summer Intake applications: 28 February 2014
Students studying overseas who submit application prior 10 December 2013 may be shortlisted for selection during Christmas break.

If your interview is successful, you'll be invited to attend a face-to-face interview and Assessment Centre.
