Cathay Pacific suspends Taipei operations from Wednesday afternoon till Thursday morning

Cathay Pacific Airways today (Tuesday, 20 August) announced that due to the forecast adverse weather in Taipei as a result of Typhoon Trami, it will suspend its Taipei flight operations from 12:30 pm on Wednesday (21 August) until at least 10:00 am on Thursday (22 August).

CX451 on 21 August from Tokyo (Narita) to Hong Kong via Taipei will be delayed and will depart from Tokyo at 12:00 noon and from Taipei at 3:35 pm on 22 August.

The last flight scheduled to depart Hong Kong on Wednesday is CX450 and the last flight from Taipei is CX421 bound for Hong Kong.

“We encourage passengers to defer non-essential travel to Taipei and we will offer a ticket waiver.  Situation may change rapidly and passengers are advised to check the latest flight information on our website before departing for the airport.  We will continue to monitor the situation and will plan for resumption of service as soon as the weather permits,” said a Cathay Pacific spokesperson.

Passengers without confirmed bookings are advised not to go to the airport. Cathay Pacific will assist with alternative arrangements for affected passengers through our call centres and “Manage My Booking” at www.cathaypacific.com.

The airline will waive all rebooking and rerouting charges for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before 20 August 2013 for travel on Cathay Pacific with confirmed bookings involving Taipei between 21 and 22 August 2013. Details are available at www.cathaypacific.com . 

Passengers are also advised to enter their contact details in the Manage My Booking function on the website to ensure they receive the latest flight status updates via SMS or email.

Cathay Pacific continues to monitor the situation closely and will issue further updates once more information becomes available. The airline regrets any inconvenience this may cause and hopes for passengers’ understanding.
