At Cathay Pacific Group, we take our environmental and social responsibilities seriously. Among our efforts to tackle climate change, we have set up the FLY greener programme to help Cathay Pacific and Dragonair customers - both corporate and individual passengers - reduce the carbon dioxide (CO2) generated from their air travel in a credible and simple way.

Why FLY greener?

The logic behind FLY greener is simple: it helps make sure the CO2 generated from air travel is reduced elsewhere. This is called "carbon offsetting".

Through FLY greener, customers are offered the opportunity to purchase "carbon offsets" that come from projects that reduce or prevent CO2 emissions, such as those focused on renewable energy.

How Can I Offset My Air Travel?

The FLY greener programme is voluntary and customers can offset the CO2 emissions of their flights by using our online carbon calculator. All money paid for the offsets goes directly to the running of these projects and Cathay Pacific does not profit from this transaction in anyway.

Customers may use cash or Asia Miles to purchase offsets to cover CO2 emissions from their flights or make a lump sum contribution to reduce their personal carbon footprint. Cathay Pacific also takes part in the programme as it offsets the CO2 emissions generated by staff on business travel on Cathay Pacific and Dragonair flights.

We only source CO2 credit from independently reviewed and accredited projects that actually reduce CO2 emissions. We give preference to projects which are close to our major operations and our home base - such as in China.

Launched in 2007, the FLY greener programme is the first provided by any Asian airline and the first programme in Asia to allow frequent flyer miles to be used for payment.
