Duty free items
Any duty free items you purchase are included in your total baggage allowance. Codeshare flights may be subject to baggage restrictions from other airlines.

Pre-flight checklist

Please take note of the following notes:

Place sharp items into checked baggage

If you are carrying nail scissors, letter knives or anything sharp and pointed, you will not be able to take them on board. Please read more about sharp items and restricted items for more advice.

Limit the amount of lithium batteries you travel with

Please ensure that any lithium batteries you travel with are stored properly and in acceptable amounts. Read more about lithium batteries.

Be mindful of your luggage allowance

We remind passengers that our cabin crew cannot lift or carry bags for you. Special assistance is available on request. Please check in any bags that are too heavy to lift into the overhead compartments.

If you use a mobility aid or assistive device to get around, take note of your route to see what you can bring along free of charge.

Items include portable electronic medical devices, canes, walkers, crutches and wheelchairs. Please note that wheelchairs are subject to stowage criteria.

For flights to the USA, there are no restrictions on the number of mobility aids and assistive aids you can bring on board for free. On flights to other destinations, you may bring one assistive device and two mobility aids per passenger.

Please see more in our special assistance section for more information.

For tickets issued on or after the 1st April 2015, free baggage allowance and extra baggage charges for flights that involve one or more other airlines (i.e. not Cathay Pacific or Dragonair) rely on a new method of calculation. This is in agreement with the new baggage policy from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Read more about our most significant carrier rules.

For tickets issued on and before the 31st March 2015, please check our most significant carrier rules.

Your ticket is determined by something known as the ‘most significant carrier’, which determines baggage allowance for air travel.

For tickets issued on or after the 1st April 2015, please check our most significant carrier rules.

For tickets issued on and before the 31st March 2015, please check our most significant carrier rules.
