Thorough security checks are carried out at all airports that Cathay Pacific operates from. In these checks, local authorities will confiscate items of potential danger to the aircraft or its passengers, eg pocket knives, scissors, and any bladed or sharp items. If these items are handed over to Cathay Pacific by the authorities, they will be kept at the intercepted airports for seven days for your collection, after which, they will be disposed of. They will not be forwarded to your destination or delivered to you. To avoid possible inconvenience, we suggest that you pack such items in your checked baggage.
We will not be responsible for, nor have any liability in respect of, items removed from passengers or their baggage by airport security personnel acting in accordance with international or government regulations, whether or not any such items are subsequently retained or destroyed by such airport security personnel, or are passed by such airport security personnel to us. If you are planning to travel to the USA, please take note of the USA baggage security measures, as well as the prohibition of carrying lighters beyond airport checkpoints.
Please check for a list of prohibited items that must not be carried onboard.
