Second Officer Recruitment
Cathay Pacific recruits Second Officers through three training programmes. Currently opportunities exist for Permanent Hong Kong ID card holders who aspire to be aviators. Cadet Pilot Second Officer trainees will undertake a rigorous 55-week training programme.
Cathay Pacific Second Officers are integral members of our flight deck crew. They fly as cruise co-pilot and enhance our flight safety by actively monitoring the operating crew during approach and departure. Experience and training in the Second Officer role develops a sound foundation for promotion to First Officer and ultimately, the goal of becoming a Cathay Pacific Captain.

Our home is the exciting Asian city of Hong Kong and we fly to more than 58 destinations in 29 countries. We have one of the youngest wide-body fleets worldwide which includes Airbus 330’s and 340’s and Boeing 747’s and 777’s.

Your suitability to be a Cathay Pacific Second Officer will be determined at several stages. Our selection process will assess your discipline, determination, and motivation as well as your interpersonal, problem-solving and team building skills. We will also be assessing academic competencies, technical aptitude and compatibility with our strong company culture. And, of course, you will need to pass a thorough medical check.

If you are successful, your performance during the assessment stages as well as your aviation experience and performance will be considered to determine which of our three Second Officer entry programmes will be most suitable for you.
