Corporate Social Responsibility Report

Cathay Pacific has been reporting since 1997 as part of a commitment to transparency and accountability to our stakeholders. Reporting enables us to communicate our performance and outline our future commitments.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility Report for 2008 details Cathay Pacific's impact on the environment and the communities in which we operate, as well as the efforts we are making towards managing those impacts (for example, our Supplier Code of Conduct). While we cannot include all events and initiatives undertaken during the year, we have endeavored to demonstrate a balanced review of the organisation's most significant activities, together with our strategy for dealing with our economic, social and environmental progress for the year.

To ensure that the report reflects the company’s significant environmental, economic and social impacts, its content has been defined by a process of:

• Stakeholder engagement;
• Identification of priority areas set out by aviation industry associations;
• Benchmarking against other airlines; and,
• Reference to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) 2006 reporting framework and the AA1000 Accountability standard.

The theme of the 2008 Report is Continuity and Change, outlining the initiatives undertaken during the year despite the difficult economic times. It demonstrates our ongoing efforts not only to manage our own practices in a responsible way but also to provide leadership within our industry and to set global policy goals for the future.

We are pleased to announce our achievement of an A+ Global Reporting Initiative grade in this report and we have revamped the environmental and social statistics table to demonstrate compliance with this rating. The report has been independently verified.
