2010 Winter Games Travel Tips

Tip #1: Plan Ahead

· Getting around Vancouver will be different throughout the exciting Games period.

· Knowing that traffic patterns have changed around the city, make a plan for the best route to the airport. Consider taking Canada Line rapid transit.

Tip #2: Check-in Online

· Checking in online saves time in line.

· Check-in for your Cathay Pacific flight online up to 48hours prior to flight departure time at www.cathay.ca.

Tip #3: Once You’re at YVR

· Access to the terminal and the curb will stay the same for customers.

· You can still take a taxi to and from the airport as well as pick up or drop off friends and family.

· With the extra passengers at YVR, leave extra time to check in, drop off your bags and go through security screening.

Tip #4: Travel on March 1, 2010

· March 1 will be Vancouver International Airport’s busiest day in history with close to 39,000 people departing Vancouver.

· Pick-up and drop-off access will remain the same, although the curb locations may change. Look out for YVR staff in green jackets. They are there to help you.

· Follow the simple countdown to departure on March 1:

o Up to 5 hours before your flight: Check your flight status at yvr.ca

o 4 hours before your flight: Arrive at YVR o 3 hours before your flight: Check in your bags and be at screening

o 2 hours before your flight: Pick up souvenirs at Olympic Stores

o 1 hour before your flight: Be at your gate and relax

Tip #5: Enjoy the Games experience at YVR

· Retail outlets, shops and services are extending their hours throughout February and March.

· Music and entertainment will be offered in the terminals during the Games and on March 1. Check out new pins and 2010 Winter Games merchandise at one of YVR’s six Olympic stores
