Cathay Pacific is the main sponsor for the Life Education Activity Programme (LEAP), which teaches young people in Hong Kong about the dangers of drug and substance abuse, as well as discussions on peer pressure, decision-making and the human body. The airline has supported LEAP since 1994 with funding of more than HK$1 million a year. The Swire Group Charitable Trust also contributes HK$4 million annually. An average school year sees more than 60,000 students from 85 schools attending the LEAP sessions.
The Asian Youth OrchestraAs part of its commitment to the education and development of young people, Cathay Pacific has served as the Official Carrier for the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) since its launch in 1991. Last year, Cathay Pacific took more than a hundred of young musicians from dozens of Asian and Australian countries for a series of concerts in the region. Cathay Pacific has also donated AYO concert tickets to local community groups for the underprivileged children to take part in the concert.
Student Travel SponsorshipCathay Pacific helps Hong Kong students participate in foreign exchange programmes and conduct research overseas by sponsoring travel to cities to which we operate across our network.
