Cabin Baggage

For all classes, each passenger (except an infant) can bring a free baggage allowance of one cabin bag not exceeding 56x36x23cm (22x14x9 in) in size. These dimensions include wheels, handles and side pockets.
Passengers of First Class, Business Class, Invitation, Diamond, Gold and Silver tier members of The Marco Polo Club (The Club) who are not departing from or transferring through London Heathrow Airport are each entitled to an extra allowance of one garment bag not exceeding 20cm (8inch) thick when folded in half, or one soft bag not exceeding 20cm (8inch) thick. For all travel classes, duty-free items are included in your cabin baggage allowance.

Starting from 7 January 2008, passengers departing from or transferring through London Heathrow Airport can bring ONE additional personal item* through security control. * Personal item can only be a purse, briefcase, laptop** or baby changing bag. All other items such as umbrellas must be placed in checked baggage. ** A laptop in a thin satchel and slim line briefcase is considered a personal item; however a laptop in larger computer bag or larger, bulkier briefcase is counted as a hand baggage. | ||
The total weight entitlements of your cabin baggage are as follows:
- First Class/Invitation, Diamond tier members - 15kg (33 lbs)
- Business Class/Gold, Silver tier members - 10kg (22 lbs)
- Economy Class - 7kg (15lbs)
| For added safety and convenience to you and our cabin crew, all travellers seated on the upper deck of our B747s are required to make use of the overhead lockers and side-wall compartments to store your luggage. We apologise the upper cloakroom is no longer available for use due to new, improved safety measures. |

For passengers who are NOT departing from or transferring through London Heathrow Airport, in addition to the above allowance, you may carry onboard the following items free:
- An overcoat or shawl
- A small handbag
- A briefcase (no more than 4kg or 9lbs in weight)
- A notebook or laptop computer (no more than 4kg or 9lbs in weight, including case and accessories)
- A small camera or a pair of binoculars
- An umbrella / walking stick / crutches
- A "forward facing" infant car safety seat for ticketed child (aged between 6 months and 3 years) or infant bassinet or cot (that can fit on fold down shelves and can be properly secured)
- Infant food and nappies (for consumption in flight)
- An infant collapsible pushchair (if cabin stowage is available)
All sharp items must be placed in checked baggage. This includes knives of any sort, metal nail files, scissors, tweezers, and so on. If any of these items are found in your carry-on luggage, they will be confiscated by security, and not returned to you. Cathay Pacific Airways will not assume any responsibility for confiscated items.
Baby buggies and adult wheelchairs must be checked in as hold baggage.
| Observing your Baggage Limitations is essential in ensuring safety and comfort on the flight Cathay Pacific takes the safety of its passengers and crew seriously. Due to Occupational Health & Safety regulations, Cabin Crew are encouraged not to lift or carry passengers’ cabin baggage. Passengers are recommended to check in any baggage that they would not be able to lift into the overhead compartment. Any cabin baggage in excess of the allowable size or weight limits will be loaded with checked baggage. Our Cabin Crew will, however, be able to help passengers who require assistance e.g. mothers with infants, unaccompanied minors, young passengers travelling alone, wheelchair passengers, the elderly, or disabled passengers, with their bags. | ||
Excess baggage charges will be collected if the items exceed your free checked baggage allowance.
Cathay Pacific adopt the international standard cabin baggage policy. Individual carriers may, however, apply a different cabin baggage allowance. If your journey involves a connection to other carrier(s), you are advised to check with these carriers for details of their policies and ensure compliance.
