Passengers requiring oxygen inflight

Subject to availability, oxygen for therapeutic or medical purposes (up to a maximum flow rate of 4 l/min) may be available on Cathay Pacific flights in cylinders provided by us free of charge. In order to determine if inflight medical oxygen will be available for your flight, please contact our local Reservations office as soon as possible.

In order to allow us adequate time to determine if we are able to acquire and load oxygen for your flight, all requests for inflight medical oxygen must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight.  However, due to circumstances beyond our control at the source of the oxygen, we cannot guarantee that oxygen will be available for all flights.  Please contact our local Reservations office for additional information.  For safety reasons, oxygen cylinders brought by passengers themselves may not be carried or used on board our flights.

Passengers also need to a complete a MEDA form. Your physician should specify the litres-per-minute flow rate required.  (Our cylinders can only provide rates of 2 or 4 litres per minute of constant flow oxygen, by mask or nasal cannula.)  Once completed, please return a copy of the MEDA form to your local Reservation office.  We ask that you retain the original and bring it with you for your flight(s).  Because of the time required to process the MEDA form through our Medical Office and the possibility that our Medical Office may request clarifying or additional information from you, passengers must request inflight medical oxygen and provide a completed MEDA form at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure time of your flight.  Requests for oxygen made with less than 72 hours advance notice may not be able to be processed in time to provide you with the requested oxygen.

We may transport your personal oxygen equipment in the cargo hold as long as it is packed and labeled in accordance with our regulations. Oxygen equipment filled with gas must be packed in accordance with "Dangerous Goods" regulations. For further information on the packing and labeling requirements and details on arranging the carriage of your oxygen, please contact our local Reservations office.
