Infants, Children & Minors
Infants

- All our aircraft are equipped with special baby bassinets and packs as well as a wide range of baby food
- Each aircraft has at least two toilets with special fold-down tables for changing diapers.
- A healthy newborn infant is ready to travel with us after the first week of delivery
- The infant must be accompanied by a parent / guardian
- Infant fare will be charged when an infant travels with a parent / guardian and the infant does not occupy a seat
- A maximum of two infants can be accepted for travel with each parent / guardian under the following conditions:
- One of the two infants must be at least 6 months old and occupy an infant car safety seat. The applicable child fare will be charged
- The other infant must be secured onto the parent / guardian with a child restraint device. Infant fare will be charged
- The parent / guardian should bring their own infant car safety seat which must comply with the Cathay Pacific approved specifications below.
- Subject to restrictions below, a personal infant / child car safety seat can be taken on board if it complies with the following requirements:
- Forward facing
- Designed for carrying an infant / child between the age of 6 months and 3 years inclusively, and weighs 18kgs or less
- Must be in operational condition.

Bassinet
- All our aircraft are equipped with special baby bassinets. A bassinet measures 76.20cm (30") x 38.10cm (15") x 20.32cm (8") and can carry up to 12kgs
- Please note however a baby older than 6 months may feel uncomfortable in a bassinet
- A request for a baby bassinet (BSCT) can be made at time of reservation if passenger is travelling with an infant.
Junior VIPS
- We believe that for children flying with us, it should be a fun and memorable experience
- That's why all kids on board will be offered a colourful backpack*
- Inside the pack (which children can take home with them) are all kinds of goodies, including stationery, games and activity books
- The fun even extends to food -- we serve children's meals with colourful cutlery
- Special infant and junior meals are also available for very young children and toddlers.
* Not applicable to flights from / to Taipei, Manila and Xiamen
Unaccompanied Children and Minors
- Age restrictions
- Children from 3 months of age up to their 6th birthday are not permitted to travel unless they are accompanied by a person of 18 years of age or above
- Children aged 6 to under 12 years, travelling alone, must be registered as Unaccompanied Minors unless they are travelling together with a person of 18 years of age or above
- Children aged 12 to under 18 years can travel as Unaccompanied Minors* only at the request of their parent or guardian. If no request is made, there will not be any special arrangements *Fees and service charges apply
Arrangements and services for Unaccompanied Minors must be booked at least 24 hours in advance
- Cathay Pacific will not accept Unaccompanied Minors with any itineraries that involve a transfer exceeding 5 hours; and connecting flights must be arriving / departing from the same airport
- Special booking fees and surcharges will be applied, by sector basis:
- Between Hong Kong and all destinations in Africa, Europe, Middle East, North America, South Asia Subcontinent and Southwest Pacific: HKD400 / USD50
- Between Bangkok and Dubai:HKD400 / USD50
- Other routes: HKD160 / USD20
- Unaccompanied Minor may check in earlier; however Cathay Pacific will not assume responsibility of the minor until 90 minutes prior departure
- Parent/Guardian is required to remain at the airport and stay contactable until the flight is airborne
- In the event of a delay for more than 60 minutes of scheduled departure time, the parent/guardian will be notified, and in certain circumstances (such as a lengthy delay) this individual may be required to pick up the Unaccompanied Minor at the airport
- Cathay Pacific will care for your child throughout the journey until the child passenger is collected by the nominated adult at the arriving airport. The responsible person meeting the child at the arrival airport must provide proof of identification before your child is handed over
- If more than 6 Unaccompanied Minors are travelling on the same flight, we will arrange for a trained and fully qualified ‘Flying Guardian’ to assist in managing the group.
Travel Chair for Children with Disability
- A child passenger with little upper body support (a condition caused by health problem such as cerebral palsy) may need to use a travel chair for children with disability on board. The travel chair can be adjusted so that children aged 3 - 11 of different body dimensions can sit in it comfortably
- Family member or guardian who travels together with the child passenger must bring their own travel chair for children with disability, and be fully responsible for installation, usage and removal of the chair
- Pre-approved travel chair for children with disability (Daws Engineering's travel chair, model number TC2000-00) is allowed to be used on the following Cathay Pacific operating aircraft types and classes:
- First Class – all aircraft types
- Business Class – all aircraft types, except B74A, B77A, A33B and A34B
- Economy Class - all aircraft types
- If child passenger is going to use a non pre-approved model of travel chair on board, request must be made at minimum of 14 working days prior to departure, provided that such travel chair is approved by either FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) or EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency)

+ Please be advised that any personal food items brought on board for consumption should not require reheating. For hygiene reasons, our crew will not be able to re-heat food items brought on board by passengers.
